Bio

Dr Richard Di Natale is the Greens lead senate candidate for the 2010 election and stands a good chance of becoming Victoria's first Greens senator. He was the  lead senate candidate in the 2007 federal election, where the he gained 10.01% of the primary vote (a record for the Greens in Victoria) but narrowly missed out on winning a seat.

Richard is a medical doctor and public health specialist. He spent several years in aboriginal health in the Northern Territory and in the international development sector implementing HIV prevention initiatives in India. He is now working as a drug and alcohol clinician in Geelong. In addition to his medical degree, Richard holds a Master of Public Health, a Master of Health Sciences and is a Fellow of the Australian Faculty of Public Health Medicine.

Richard, his wife Lucy and young son Luca currently live on a small farm in the foothills of the Otway ranges where they have built a passive solar dwelling that includes a number of environmental features. They are busy re-vegetating large areas of the property and establishing an organic orchard and olive grove.
 
The son of Italian immigrants, Richard is fluent in Italian and is a regular contributor to SBS radio. He played VFA football for 6 years with Oakleigh and Coburg and he is a long suffering Richmond fan.
